Σύμφωνα με πρόσφατο δημοσίευμα του "Κέρδους" το ναυάγιο βρίσκεται σε ελάχιστο βάθος 2 μέτρων απο την επιφάνεια και για αυτό αποτελεί τον πρώτο στόχο σε ένα σχέδιο ανελκύσεων ναυαγίων του Οργανισμού Λιμένος Ελευσίνας.

Τα υπόλοιπα που στοχεύουν να ανελκύσουν με πλειοδοτικό διαγωνισμό είναι το άλλοτε ομόσταυλο City of Hydra, το ΑΛΚΗΣΤΙΣ (πρ.ΚΑΣΤΡΙΑΝΗ ΚΕΑΣ), το MEDITERRANEAN SKY και δύο μικρά γκαζάδικα.

Να δούμε αν θα μείνουν (και αυτοί) στα χαρτιά.

Στο βάθος δεν είναι το αδελφάκι γιατί το αδελφάκι ( SAN GIORGIO ) είχε κατεβεί ήδη στην Ελλάδα. Το πλοίο που φαίνεται στο βάθος ανήκε στο τρίο BERNINA - BRENNERO - STELVIO.

¶ρη, το City of Myconos είχε πρύμα στο τελευταίο κατάστρωμα μία υπερκατασκευή η οποία τελείωνε φάλτσα με μεγάλα ορθογώνια παράθυρα που έβλεπαν πρύμα, υποπτεύομαι ντίσκο. Επίσης, το σαλόνι πλώρα που προεκτάθηκε είχε 13 παράθυρα αντί 12 του City of Andros με κενό κάτω από την βαρδιόλα.

Here is a good 3/4 stern shot which I took of her at Piraeus in 1988. Both her and her sister City of Andros were very sleek handsome liners who sported the Cycladic livery well. Notice the little tug Aetos ready to assist her departure also belonging to the same shipping company.

Personally, I did'nt knew that Kyrtatas also owned tugs... that's surely worth some digging.
I am not sure of the reasons that the company took the downturn, but in 1995 it was already facing financial problems and its ships were either sold or arrested for depts.

Here is a shot of the CITY OF MYCONOS that I took in Rodos in 1987.

Aris am pretty sure this was the case but I cannot remember whether someone actually told me or I read it some where that they also owned a fleet of tugs. I have seen other pictures of them and the funnel markings are exactly the same so it seems too much of a coincidence that it would be another company with the same logo. In any case I am sure one of your friends will be able to verify this.

Did you see my remark on the City of Rhodos thread about the partly yellow painted superstructure. It would be interesting to find this out also.

Here is an unusual picture of the City of Myconos (taken from a Japanese book of spectacular passenger ship photos) berthed stern to, in typical Med fashion, however although I can guess at the location you will be able to confirm (note the Greek lettering on the building) could it be Syros, Heraklion, Rhodes ?? Am I on the right track...

The background is typical Dodecanese, so I must assume it is Rhodos. Aris, I think you are confusing the building with the Customs house at Syros but it is not. Also, ships at the Customs house at Syros berth alongside and not stern to the dock.

Καλωσόρισες Νικόλα64 στην παρέα μας. Είναι περίεργο πως μία δραστηριότητα ενός κρουαζιερόπλοιου που αποφέρει αρκετά έσοδα στην εταιρία του, όπως το καζίνο, να είναι σε αυτή την κατά την άποψή μου απομονωμένη θέση. Συνήθως, όλα τα καζίνο των κρουαζιερόπλοιων βρίσκονται σε περίοπη θέση στο κύριο κατάστρωμα των κοινόχρηστων χώρων και σε σημείο που διέρχονται όλοι οι επιβάτες. Τώρα, γιατί οι αδελφοί Κυρτάτα διάλεξαν την θέση αυτή? Γνωρίζεις?

Νομίζω ότι διάλεξαν αυτή τη θέση γιατί δεν υπήρχε άλλος διαθέσιμος χώρος. Οι υπόλοιποι κοινόχρηστοι χώροι ήταν περιορισμένοι ,το καθιστικό σαλόνι το βράδυ γινόταν club.το εστιατόριο σέρβιρε το δείπνο σε δυο σειρές γιατί δεν χωρούσε όλους τους επιβάτες σε μία.Αυτά από προσωπική εμπειρία από μία 7ημερη κρουαζιέρα που έκανα το 1988.( Πειραιάς-πορτ σάιντ-Αστοντ-Ρόδος-Κουσάνταση-Μύκονος-Πειραιάς) Ηταν ένα όμορφο καλοδιατηρημένο βαποράκι με ζεστό και φιλόξενο περιβάλλων.Παρότι υστερούσε σε μέγεθος και κοινόχρηστους χώρους από κάποια άλλα της εποχής εκείνης ,το 100% Ελληνικό πλήρωμα έκανε το πάν για να περάσεις ευχάριστα. Ακόμα και σήμερα δεν ξεχνώ το city of myconos και το πόσο ωραία πέρασα !!!

I wonder on the sister ship City of Andros which did not have similar layout on the top deck where was the casino located? Any deck plans to solve the mystery? Or it did'nt have one?

QAM you are right from what I can remember the casino on the City of Mykonos was located in a corner of the Main Lounge. They might have changed it later to the top deck but cannot be sure. I will check deck plans when I get home and get back to you on this one.

QAM The only deck plan I have of the City of Andros does not show the top most deck (same as the one posted by Nikolas64) so cannot really tell however I can confirm that in the case of the City of Mykonos the top lounge was used as a disco as can be clearly seen from the deck plan below.

The second page is from a 1991 brochure and all the photos are of the City of Mykonos. Here you will see that the top left hand corner photo shows the main lounge with the casino section located in the front right hand side corner (it is separated by a partition).

The third page contains photos of the City of Rhodos except for the bottom right hand side one which is the casino on the City of Mykonos. The slanting windows with the gap in the middle is proof of this (since the windows in the top lounge did not have a space in the middle).

So to recap I suppose that the same arrangement applied on the City of Andros however at some point they might have used the top lounge as the casino especially if the disco was under utilised.

Thank you Henry for your help. So initially it was a disco and in the 90's as Nikolas 64 informs us, was redone housing the casino. We are trying to see whether the casino of City of Andros was situated on the main deck behind the forward lounge separated by a partition. Remember, the City of Andros did not have that top deck extension the Myconos had, so the casino must be a deck lower.

Νομίζω ότι χάλαγε όλη την αισθητική της μετασκευής από τους αφους Κυρτάτα. Το αδελφάκι του δεν την είχε. K επιπλέον στο C.of A. το πλωριό άλμπουρο ήταν κοντύτερο κ ωραιότερο. Εκτός από τις όποιες ενστάσεις έχουμε γιά το αποτέλεσμα της μετασκευής εξωυερικά, πιστεύω κ εσωτερικά οι μετασκευές στα καράβια του Κυρτάτα δεν ήταν ό,τι καλύτερο ποιοτικά.
