In another site http://www.nautilia.gr/forum/showthread.php?t=52879&page=2 I asked if anyone had photos or new the ships traveling to and from teh Diaponties islands (Othonoi, Erikousai, Mathraki)

I asked: I would appreciate it if any member of nautilia.gr could provide information, schedules and perhaps pictures of past and present ships that do the run between Corfu and the Diaponties islands (Othonoi, Erikoussai and Mathraki) Thank you
Then Corfu offered some photos
Oχι και αδυνατο,εγω γιατι ειμαι εδω??:razz:

Now, I am happy to provide some hard-to-find historical photos of the ports!

The main port of the island of Othonoi (1993 photo) shows a rather sleepy village of no more than 100 souls (1991 census)... It has an area of 9,89 sq km and a highest hill of 408 m. Just 80 years ago, it had 808 inhabitants in two villages, Ammos and Horio and was connected by a motorship directly to Corfu. Tourism may be the only solution here

Mathraki has more inhabitants, perhaps around 300, but is less developed.

Here a 1989 picture of the port

The biggest village and island is Erikouses. Here is a photo from 1991

Simplified as Erikousa in the last 50 years, the island is beautiful

And to complete the picture, here is Alexandros K that serves the Kerkyra-Sidari-Diaponties trade along with the schedule http://www.terrakerkyra.gr/per-pax-diap/de/dia-dromologia.html

Alexandros K was built in the Philippou Shipyards in Perama in 1986. It is 28.1 m long, 6.5 m wide and has a tonnage of 187 tons.

Alexandros K II was already in the Kerkyra-Diaponties islands route in the early 1990s (source: Thomas Cook's Greek island hopping, 1996). Sut she was not stopping at Sidari. Smaller boats were doing the run Sidari-Erikoussa-Mathraki. Among those mentioned in the 1990s, there were Petrakis, Sotirakis and Sotirakis II. Now, this service is done by the ferry boat Nearhos.
