This new thread on Sovereign Cruises again merits our attention in that it was an important company who chartered many classic Greek and non Greek passenger ships in the late 60's and early 70's. Similarly the brochures were of high quality and very detailed for that period and they were successful in achieving the development of the UK fly cruise market to Greece together with the likes of Cosmos, Horizon etc.

The brochure photos of the Queen Frederica with her unque funnel cross emblems are especially attractive. Enjoy and best regards, Henry.

The Sovereign brochures are really beyond imagination... and the logos on QF funnels are well suited to this old liner. And what about her main foyer? simply stuning...

As for Galaxy, my books mention her name as GALAXY QUEEN. Maybe they added the -QUEEN after printing the brochure. Is it a 1972 brochure?
We have a superb photo (http://www.nautilia.gr/forum/showpost.php?p=69910&postcount=5) of her by esperos, as the CARIBIA 2 at the breakers yard.

Sovereign also owned a ship, the FLORIANA (http://www.nautilia.gr/forum/showpost.php?p=148219&postcount=29), however she never sailed for them due to mechanical problems. Oddly Chandris bought her afterwards but without putting her in service either.

Aris, glad you enjoyed the brochures. Unfortunately I have only been able to scan a selection of pages as they are quite large but it gives you a good idea.

The Galaxy programme is from 1971. In fact i read in one of the Anthony Cooke books on smaller liners and cruise ships that her cruise programme was a bit of a disaster and did'nt last very long!

How about those wood panelled cabins on the Varna are'nt they just incredible!!

Best regards
Henry.
