While going through old newspapers in the Web-based version of the National Library http://www.nlg.gr/digitalnewspapers/ns/main.html, I found this ad from January 4, 1947

What's teh story of Pegasus? I have been able to find very little, but if my identification is correct then we have an interesting new addition to our collection.
The only ship that could much the "characteristics" of this ad is a ship belonging briefly to the Greek Government... It is LST-215 a landing ship of teh USA name given to and kept by the Greek Navy for eight years (1947-54). She was named Pegasus in 1947.
My guess is that she was prepared for longer voyages by some simple conversion and was advertised for convenience routes. I wonder if anyone knows anything else.
Her entry in http://www.history.navy.mil/danfs/l13/lst-215.htm is
LST-215
LST-215 was laid down on 8 January 1943 at Seneca, III., by the Chicago Bridge & Iron Co.; launched on 26 June 1943; sponsored by Mrs. Frank T. Kegley; and commissioned on 12 July 1943. The tank landing ship never saw active service with the United States Navy. On 19 July 1943, she was transferred to the United Kingdom and was returned to United States Navy custody on 27 July 1946. She was struck from the Navy list on 29 October 1946 and was sold and converted for merchant service on 11 September 1947
