Here is another corvette that became a passenger ship for a short time in the mid 1940s, Chania.

Chania was laid down as La Paimpolaise for the French Navy, but completed as HMS Nasturtium for the Royal Navy after France was invaded by Germany. She was sold to the Greek Government in 1946.

First appearance on August 9, 1947 (left) to Thessaloniki. In March 1948, the Greek Government tried to "unload her" but unsuccessfully. Finally, in 1950 she became an auxiliary Greek Navy ship, a lighthouse tender, with the very appropriate name St. Lykoudis (see also http://theflowerclasscorvetteforums.yuku.com/topic/383 and http://www.navynuts.com/HellenicNavy.html). For those who do not remember, Lykoudis was the founder of the Lighthouse service in Greece

Το πλοίων φάρων ΛΥΚΟΥΔΗΣ δίπλα σε ένα από τα Algerine του Π.Ν. Υπηρέτησε στο Π.Ν. από το 1950 έως το 1973 οπότε και παροπλίστηκε.
