Oreoi, the port of Istiaia, has been linked with Chalkis and Piraeus, or Volos and Thessaloniki with passenger ships for a very long time.

First, I owe you an old postcard from Oreioi... My collection goes back a long time... so long that Oreoi had only 10 houses and Evoia was called... Negreponte by the postcard publishers!!! Here it is

44961

How long? Well at least 1881! Searching for ships that served Oreoi, one finds a cornucopia of ships and the most unusual lines, usually passenger ships that were old yachts..

Let's see....

1. Yaloussis Line
An ad from April 28, 1881 (and Volos is spelled with omega!)

2. Goudes Line
An ad from November 1, 1883

3. Diakakes Line
An ad from July 13, 1908 with Prigkipissa Sophia

4. Katrakis Line
An ad from August 5, 1902 with Nikolaos
