Goudes Line (Ατμοπλοΐα Γουδή) was founded by Dimitrios Goudes from Spetses in Piraeus in 1879. Goudes started by becoming a captain in various Spetsiot ships after he finished high school.

Its first passenger ship was the paddle wheel Spetsai of 110 tons that was doing the Argosaronikos run (Aegina to Spetsai and further). This was the famous Goudes duck (I papia tou Goudi).

Here is a list of the earliest Goudes ships in order of purchase:

3. Kriti, a 287-ton ship
4. Nauplion, a 285-ton ship
5. Mina, a 61 tons ship
6. Peloponnesos

She was a 328 ton ship with an almost 50 m length.

The name PYLAROS always confuses people. This ship was different than Athanasoulis' ship PYLAROS. It appears that both were active at the same time. Here is our present Pylaros that belonged to C. P. Marketos (not the same one who had Aghios Ioannis) on March 24, 1913

Ο φιλος Ellinis παρουσιασε εδω μια σπανια φωτογραφια απο ενα βιβλιο του Φουστανου



Στο βιβλίο "Από το Φάληρο στον Πειραιά" του Γ.Φουστάνου εντόπισα και την παρακάτω φωτογραφία που δείχνει δυο πλοία του Γουδή (το μεσαίο και το δεξιά).

Παρατηρώντας το πλοίο στα δεξιά μπορεί κανείς να ξεχωρίσει και το προστατευτικό του τροχού του. Και επειδή άλλο τροχήλατο δεν είχε ο Γουδής, προέκυψε μια πρώτη φωτογραφία του ΣΠΕΤΣΑΙ, το πρώτου πλοίου της εταιρίας. Λόγο του παφλασμού που έκανε ο τροχός όταν γύριζε οι ταξιδιώτες της εποχής το αποκαλούσαν "η πάπια του Γουδή"
