Ellinis, this observation requires some research.
Indeed Lloyd Register of 1930 includes a small ship called Fortunale and built in Oslo in 1912. She became later Elli (when?) and then Elena (by 1930). In 1930 through 1935, she belonged to G. Smaragda and N. Stamatiou and was registered in Rhodes, where she was listed as "Italian".
She had 164 tons, a length of 106.9 ft and a width of 18 ft. Very strange dimensions...
From 1936 to 1938 she belonged to George Antoniou and was registered in Alexandria, Egypt
In 1939 through 1945 she belonged to S. Megaloeconomou and was registered in Piraeus!

A rather obscure little ship, FORTUNALE was build in 1912 at Oslo (LR not mentions specific yard) and it seems that in 1916-19 she was requisiotioned by the Italian Navy as a harbour tug.
In the 1930s she sailed as the passenger ship ELENI in the Dodecanese, and in 1941 she was bombed by the German air force and sunk in Heraklion harbour.
I wonder if she was raised and refitted for service by the Kriegsmarine. Can any one help?
Other details on her origins are greatly welcomed!
In fact, she was Elena, not Eleni
And here is the response!

FORTUNALE, ex Norwegian trawler LIONELL JACOBSEN, built at Christiania in 1912, 145 tons gross and 62 tons net, was purchased by the Regia Marina on 27.8.1916 as a patrol boat to support the Canale d'Otranto antisubmarine barrier. It was discarded on 19.11.1919 and sold to Coop. Argo, La Spezia, then in 1926 to Giulio De Castro, Port Said. In 1928 sold again, with the same name, to Giovanni Smaryda & Nicola Stamatico, Castelorizo; struck from the Italian maritime registry in 1932.
And then

Thanks a lot for your input! That surely resolves the early years of her life.
Now the only "blank spot" is what happened to her during WW2.
