Truly famous passenger ship that was in the Aegean and Ionian seas more than 30 years!. She was built at the Blackwood & Gordon shipyards in Port Glasgow in 1869 with the name Galatea.
She was bought by Clyde Shipping Co in 1872 and named Wicklow. Here is an old postcard from 1895 that shows a Clyde ship

Wicklow had 814 tons, length of 68.15 meters and width of 9.1 meters. She was a big ship of her time!

She was sold to Greece in August 1881** and was named Ermoupolis. As such, she was first a ship of the New Hellenic Steamship Co

** In his 1997 insert for Efoplistis (p. 46), A. Tzamtzis claims that the ship was a cargo ship that was bought by the Hellenic Steamship Co in 1884.
