The attached brochure was the published programme of cruises for the Great Lakes. Does anyone know whether these were actually completed as I seem to remember that she was arrested half way through for non payment of debts, crew etc. or did she fail the USPH tests?

Shame as she was a smart little ship and was in good condition when she called at Gibraltar prior to her transatlantic crossing as the photos which I took show.

Ηenry here is what was reported at the US press back in 2001:

The 224-passenger Greek ship Arcadia ended its Great Lakes career after a couple of sailings last year. The chartering company, Great Lakes Cruises Inc., was forced to close its doors after the Detroit Free Press revealed that the ship's kitchen had failed a series of health inspections. The Arcadia was scheduled to sail a full season on the lakes last year and, of course, to continue in this and succeeding years.

Arcadia, the first ship in a while to sail a full season on the Great Lakes, was found non-compliant by the Centers for Disease Control and Sanitation’s Vessel Sanitation Program. The VSP officials, which had, two months ago, checked out the Greek-based ship before it even made the transatlantic trek west -- and had found a sizable number of problems -- reinspected the ship in June in a U.S. port. At that time, the Arcadia scored a truly frightening 59 (86 is passing) and the CDC recommended the ship halt voyages until it was cleaned up. Instead, it continued to sail -- and as a result the CDC took the relatively unprecedented move of “beaching” the ship when it returned, forbidding it to take on any more passengers until the problems were resolved.

The 224-passenger ship was, last weekend, re-inspected and -- and it (finally) passed --but charter operators have halted sailings and filed for bankruptcy. The ship remains at dock at Sault Ste. Marie, Canada.

C&C Travel have decided to stop all cruises of Coco Explorer 2. The last cruise departed on 13 April. I knew of various difficulties concerning the Asian itineraries and pax loads, but hoped that somehow the ship would continue on.

The ship is now up for sale, or possibly may have been sold already. I am awaiting information of a rumored sale.
The web site for CE2 is now closed, but there is a letter to all customers, which I have copied below.
I am very saddened to hear this news.

C&C Marine has decided to sell the cruise ship Coco Explorer 2 and there will therefor not be arranged any further cruises from April 20th 2006.
Unfortunately a lot of things have made the situation complicated, for the continues sailing of Coco Explorer 2. The political situation in the countries along side the waters of the planed cruises have forced us to reconsider the original travel plans. We originally intended to sail along side Bali-Lombok-Comodo, but have to give it up, because of the bombings. The Philippines, which is our most popular destination, was complicated because of political issues. And then the last route that we could have sailed was not as popular as expected among our customers.
It is very unfortunate and with great melancholy that we have to inform you about this. It was our dream to sail these cruises and we hope for your understanding. Yes, it is very sad.
