The story of Teti/Adriatiki Part 1
.....................
In 1955, she was sold to Typaldos Line because the Sigalas Line had some financial difficulties. My friend claims that "Mr Sigalas was seriously ill at that time". He claims that Teti was sold to Typaldos and the only thing that changed was the insignia on its funnel. it was only later, in 1957 or January of 1958 that she was sent to Perama for extension of its superstructure and change of color to white. At that time, she was named Adriatiki. [NB: I have not found any Typaldos ad about Teti in 1955-1958].
The name change date of course would disagree with the dates given in Miramar. But, surprisingly enough, there is a unique photograph that may support these memories. Laurence Dunn's recent book on Mediterranean Shipping offers a very clear photograph of Teti as a Typaldos ship and with the name Teti! Next to her, there is a black and dirty Philippos! Since Philippos joined Kavounides in 1955 and started doing runs that summer, it is clear that Teti was sold to Typaldos in 1955 but kept her name until later!
