Allow me to share with you, the images from one of my favourite cruise ships ever, the small & handsome M/V " FLAMENCO ".

So I will start this thread with her history, initially as M/S SPIRIT OF LONDON when she sailed with P & O colours:

Now as M/S SUN PRINCESS after being tranfered to Princess Cruises.

As a curiosity, many tv episodes from the Tv series " The Love Boat" were filmed on board of her. However the ship usually advertised was the Pacific Princess as we all remember.

As M/S MAJESTIC for Premier Cruise Lines. She was advertised as Starship Majestic for marketing purposes.

Dear Friends,

After the USSR dissipation, CTC Cruise Lines of London, that used to charter soviet ships ever since, chartered from Premier the M/S MAJESTIC for a season and renamed as as M/S SOUTHERN CROSS :

After premier Lines bankrupcy, this ship was acquired by Festival Cruises, Greece and renamed M/S FLAMENCO:

She was a regular visitor to Madeira, and a proof is this postcard, where our/ Madeira green mountains from the North Coast are portrayed on the top of M/S FLAMENCO postcard for her season on the Atlantic Islands.

Dear Friends

Finally, after Festival bankrupcy, the M/V FLAMENCO was acquired by a group of investidors from Brazil & Colombia renamed Cruise Elisya, advertised as Elysian Cruises who renamed her as M/V NEW FLAMENCO, being the first ship opearted for Travelplan, Spain.

She operated also sucessfully a season for European Nudist travellers ...no tipping? I suppose... lolol

She was later sold to a Brazilian Petrol company who used her as a floating hotel for workers on the oild industry, being later sold to Holland based company CLUB CRUISES, who chartered her for the same role in South America.

After the charter end, Club Cruises went bankrupcy, and the ship was by the time in Singapore to became a floating casino...

This never materialised and she is still detained by the court and agw by the end of this month will go for auction again...

Let's hope she survives!

Dimas, well done and thanks for this very interesting postcard history of a very good looking vessel. Together with the Aegean Pearl her identical sister (except of course for the funnel) they are the best looking vessels of that era with beautiful Italian external lines and rounded edges and sheer. Pity that Louis did'nt acquire her and retain both ships!

O Dimas ευχόταν να επιζήσει το σκάφος, αλλά δυστυχώς δεν τα κατάφερε.
Το άλλοτε σκαρί της Festival πουλήθηκε πριν λίγες μέρες για σκραπ...

Είχε μείνει παροπλισμένο επί 2 χρόνια στη Σιγκαπούρη και αφού προηγουμένος είχε χρησιμεύσει ως πλωτό κατάλλυμα στη Νουμέα της Νέας Καληδονίας.

Δυστυχώς αυτή είναι η μοίρα των πραγματικών καραβιών που μετά από κάποιες δεκαετίες εκμετάλλευσής τους από τις εταιρίες τους καταλήγουν να πουλιούνται λόγω παλαιότητας σε μικρές επί το πλείστον εταιρίες με αμφίβολη επιβίωση. Με την χρεοκοπία της εταιρίας τους και για να πληρωθούν οι πιστωτές συνήθως η πιο συμφέρουσα τιμή αγοράς έρχεται από τους σκραπατζήδες. Κρίμα, γιατί τα πλοία αυτά έχουν ακόμα περιθώρια ζωής.

Πράγματι είναι λυπηρό διότι σίγουρα έχει ακόμη ζωή το βαπόρι .Το μόνο που θα χρειαζόταν είναι μια καλή επισκευή , από κάποια εταιρία που θα είχε όρεξη .
Θα ήταν κουτί για την THE AEGEAN EXPERIENCE MC , που έχει το AegeanOdyssey.

Το εγκαταλελημμένο εδώ και καιρό στο Laem Chanang της Ταϋλάνδης το κινέζικο Ocean Dream πήρε κλίση στις 27 Φεβρουαρίου και βυθίστηκε με την αριστερή μπάντα κάτω από το νερό. Ήταν το αδελφό (με εξαίρεση την διαφορετική τσιμινιέρα) του Southward μετέπειτα Seawind.
