I am surprised to see that there is a 1950s passenger ship, a Foustanos ship (!), that has not received its own thread yet. So, here she is....
Ermoupolis was built as the British patrol frigate Coltsfoot in Aberdeen, Scotland in 1941. Her designer was the famous Alexander Hall (and it shows!). Originally she had a tonnage of 940 tons, a length of 62.6 m, a width of 10,1 m and an excellent speed of 16 knots.
Here is her Miramar entry (although I must admit they spelled Ermoupolis Hermopoulis (I do not mind the H, but I do mind the misplaced u)

and http://www.warshipsww2.eu/shipsplus....riod=&id=63538 she did not seem to have a great history, although it is interesting that in the middle of 1943 she was patroling in the Atlantic with Mignonette and Spiraea, two ships that became later the Greek ships Alexandroupolis and Thessaloniki!
She became the mercantile ship Alexandra in 1947 and was registered in Piraeus, owned by Compania Divisia de Vapores S.A.
In his book I Elliniki Epivatigos Nautilia, A. Tzamtzis indicates (p. 87) that Alexandra was added to the passenger ships of Greece with the name Alexandra in 1953; its owners were the Peiraiki Atmoploia.
The conversion of Alexandra to Ermoupolis was absolutely wonderful. Here is an oil painting of Konstantinos Zografos. By 1954 she had become one of three Foustanos passenger ships, the other two being Despoina and Pandelis. And her tonnage had increased to 1,112 tons!
