Επανέρχομαι στην φωτογραφία του Αυστραλίς στο λιμάνι.

Το γκρί πλοιαράκι δεξιά του που είναι ημιτελές (το πρώτο πρυμοδετημένο δεξιά του ΗΡΑΚΛΕΙΟ/ΧΑΝΙΑ) μου φαίνεται για το μικρό κρουαζιερόπλοιο ΛΙΝΑ ελληνικής ναυπήγησης, που έκανε 7ήμερες κρουαζιέρες στην δεκαετία του 60 και μετά πουλήθηκε και πήγε στα νησιά Galapagos. Το αναγνωρίζει κανείς?

Την ίδια απορία είχα και εγώ. Από μια ελληνική ταινία κατάφερα να "κόψω" δύο-τρία καρέ που δείχνουν το ίδιο σκάφος μπροστά στην πλώρη του ΗΡΑΚΛΕΙΟΝ.

Συγκρίνοντας το με τη μια και μόνη γνωστή φωτογραφία του ΛΙΝΑ A. που είχε δημοσιευτεί κάποτε στον "Ε", θα έλεγα οτι είναι το ίδιο πλοίο.

On the reverse shows MTS " LINA A " of Holiday Lines, 8-10 Sachtouri Avenue, Piraeus.

Can somebody help me to trace this ship history,her fate,etc and eventually post an image of her portrayed in real photo?

Dear Dimas,

Although I started the thread with the little ship there are not many things I know about it. I remember the ship in the mid 60's (it was built at Perama and the pictures above in Piraeus showing the ship during fitting out, were taken spring of 65), doing seven day cruises (if I remember correctly) to the Greek islands. It used to call at the island of Hydra where I was vacationing with my parents and I remember the ship arriving Saturday evenings, and because of its small size would dock inside the tiny port of Hydra, while the larger ones (Chandris Romantica, Typaldos Electra, and Epirotiki's Semiramis) would stay at anchor outside the port. The ship did not last long in Greek waters and I believe in the late 60's (1969?) was sold to a company which used it as a cruiser to the Galapagos islands. I hope the info helps although there is a lot missing in the history of the yachtlike cruise ship. Aris mentions above that a picture of it was featured in 'Efoplistis", the Greek magazine. I wonder if we can have a scanned copy uploaded.

I have a brochure of her when she was crusing the Galapagos as QAM has explained. It contains one of the few real photos I have seen of her plus a small deck plan. Will upload it for you later on today when I get home

I found yesterday through google an image of the MTS LINA A, B & W when she cruised in Galapagos.

It also mentioned that she was the second cruise ship/boat to cruise in Galapagos.


The image is not so good, but finally we can see her lines in a full broad side view.

Εν αναμονή φωτογραφιών που ο φίλος Henry ή και ο ¶ρης θα ανεβάσουν, θέλω να παρατηρήσω ότι οι ναυπηγικές γραμμές του πλοίου θυμίζουν έντονα μία μικρότερη μορφή του αθάνατου ΚΕΦΑΛΛΗΝΙΑ. Δεν ξέρω αν είναι προϊόν του ιδίου αρχιτεκτονικού γραφείου ή απλώς εκφράζει την σχεδιαστική φιλοσοφία των Ελλήνων ναυπηγών της δεκαετίας 60 (και τα δύο κτίστηκαν το 1965 στο Πέραμα). Προσέξτε την πλώρη, την γέφυρα με το πλωριό μπαλκόνι, και τις κλίσεις στις κολώνες για να το δείχνουν γρήγορο.
