A small passenger ship under Greek ownership but with Panamanian flag, Dolores crossed the Mediterranean and the Aegean for three or four years in the post-1947 period which, as Ellinis pointed out in the Terpsichore article, was a period of great need of ships from West to East Mediterranean Sea. Κάποια στιγμή ανελκύστηκε και το 1947 το αγόρασε κάποιος Δανιέλλος που το επισκεύασε. Έκανε επίσης και ένα δρομολόγιο από Αλεξάνδρεια, Βυρηττό προς Πειραιά.
Δεν ήταν λίγα τα καραβάκια είχαν δρομολογηθεί το 46/50 μεταξύ Αλεξάνδρειας και Πειραιά, τα περισσότερα μικρά ή παμπάλαια αποσύρθηκαν σύντομα.

Dolores was built at the Fairfield Govan shipyards as the yacht Queen of Scots in March 1904. She had 606 tons, 53.5 m length and 8.7 m width. By comparison, she was about 15% shorter than Cadio that was doing similar routes in 1948. She belonged to William Allan Coats, Glasgow
but transferred to Thomas Coats in 1926. In 1931 she became yet another yacht of the famous Anthony Drexel of Philadelphia (see http://www.nautilia.gr/forum/showthr...ghlight=drexel) In 1939 she went to M. Graham White of Southampton, Long Island

In 1947 she was bought by Manzanilla Navigation Company of Panama, a company belonging to the successors of the Kyriakides family (see http://www.nautilia.gr/forum/showpos...93&postcount=3) and was converted for passengers. She was broken up at Savona in May 1952, at age 48.

Toν Οκτώβρη του 1948 το καραβάκι ναυλώθηκε για ένα ταξίδι Μασσαλία-Αλβανία. Μόλις το έμαθε το πλήρωμα αρκετοί την έκαναν με ελαφρά πηδηματάκια για ευνόητους λόγους. Το ταξίδι όμως πρέπει να έγεινε.

Μια φωτογραφία του πλοίου ως θαλαμηγού QUEEN OF SCOTS, όταν ο ιδιοκτήτης του έψαχνε χαμένους θυσαυρούς! Τότε διατηρούσε την κλασσική πλώρη κλίπερ που όπως φαίνεται στη φωτογραφία που έχει ανεβασει ο Νίκος, αργότερα άλλαξε.

The very characteristic structure of the Queen of Scots of 1904 can be seen in this photo from the 1930s. The ship carrie son it an Avro 616 Avian IVM aircraft http://peggybawn.wordpress.com/2013/...gnificent-men/

The steam yacht, Queen of Scots, was one of the last of G.L. WatsonΆs designs to be launched – by Fairfields, of Govan, Glasgow – before his premature death at the age of just 53, in 1904. She was commissioned by William A. Coats, of the Paisley threadmaking dynasty, and owned at the time of the treasure hunting expedition by Philadelphia financier, J. Anthony Drexel Jr, who, according to one newspaper report, may have shipped aboard to Cocos Island. Drexel was an aviator, and her subsequent owner/broker was another larger than life character closely associated with the pioneering days of aviation (via his brother Claud), motor racing, and superyacht charter/brokerage… Montague Grahame-White. Like many superannuated steam yachts, Queen of Scots ended her days post WWII in the eastern Mediterranean as the Greek-owned, Panamanian-flagged ferry/cargo vessel Dolores. She was broken up in 1952.

Το DOLORES σε μια σπάνια - καθώς έγχρωμη - φωτογραφία του Πειραιά από το 1949. Δεμένο με πρυμάτσες στο Ξαβέρι και δίπλα του φαίνεται το ναυάγιο του ΚΥΡΑΠΑΝΑΓΙΑ ΙΙ, θύμα της έκρηξης του CLAN FRASER (σχετικά εδώ).
