Dear Friends

Allow me to share with all of you, my tribute for the almost unknown Soviet / USSR series of small ocean liners of AZHARIYA class dated from 1926.

Their history as follows:

In 1925 in Leningrad, was founded the Central Bureau of Marine Shipbuilding.

One of the first projects was a passenger ship/liner with cargo capacity to operate in the Crimea-Caucasus line, capable also to operate till Mediterranean for further trading if necessary.

The project was handed over for implementation in the Baltic Shipyard in Leningrad also, for a German shipyard Krupp in Kiel.

Baltic Shipyard build between 1926-1931 the following ships:
