I am starting today with the presentation of a number of passenger ships that were doing the South Evoikos routes, from Aliveri to Karystos and Kymi, often with stops (or starts) from Rafina. Many were continuing to the northern Cyclades islands. Several of these ships belonged to the Togias family and most of them are somewhat difficult to identify.
Konstantinos Togias established a small shipping line in 1894 with basis in Karystos of Evoia. His first ship was the steamship Karystos, built in 1869 and of 130 tons. She was placed in the South Evoikos route.
NB: This was built in 1899. Mea culpa. Mentioned also by Elllinis below. 1869 was the "birth" of another pre-war Karystos!
We have several documents about this ship. Here is a schedule from July 12, 1916. Karystos belonged to Androhydraiki Atmoploia (which I assume was a name for either the Togias Line or the Leoussis Line or a war-time conglomerate of both of them). She was doing a route from Piraeus (not Rafina) to Kythnos, Serifos, Sifnos, Paros and Naxos with return to Piraeus. Three days later we see a similar schedule

The third ad from July 20, 1916 is a bit more revealing but again confusing. Now the company belongs to someone by the name Georghios Koulouras! And it is clear that Eugenia (see http://www.nautilia.gr/forum/showthread.php?t=70083) and Karystos belong to this comany and do both routes, the second being Piraeus, Monemvasisa, Neapolis, Aghia Pelayia, Gytheion.

Karystos was sold to Ethniki Atmoploia o Embricos in January 1920 and remained with this company for a year and a half.
